Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Overview

What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?

Multifactor authentication is a way to prove your identity to a system beyond your username and password. It's like having two locks on your hotel room door rather than just one. When you log in using your Penn College account, you first use your username and password, then a second method to help verify you are who you say you are.

Who must enroll in MFA?

All employees, students, and non-employees/contractors must enroll. Why enroll in MFA? (Click to expand) MFA is a more phishing-resistant way to authenticate. MFA protects you and Penn College from cyberattacks before they start by helping to prevent hackers from using your account in ways you wouldn't want or didn't intend. If your password is stolen or simply guessed, MFA provides another layer of protection.
