Installing Microsoft Office

Overview

Microsoft Office 365 is available for Penn College employees and students to download to five personal devices through the college's enterprise license.

It is best to review the system requirements and compatibility with earlier versions prior to beginning the install process. Users may be prompted to uninstall a previous version of Microsoft Office before installing Office 365.

Please be aware that this license will cease within 30 days of the employee or the student leaving Penn College.

Instructions

Step 1. 

Open MyPCT Portal from your personal device and navigate to the Microsoft 365 Dashboard hyperlink available in the group of quick links (You may be required to login with your PCT credentials, especially if you are off-campus). 

 

Step 2.

Select the "Install and more" button near the top right of the Dashboard screen and choose the "Install Microsoft 365 apps" button.

Step 3.

Look for a Setup.exe file in your taskbar. Choose to Run or Save the file depending on your browser options. If you chose to save the file, navigate to Downloads, and run the file. Accept the default prompts to complete the installation. Also, note that you may be prompted to log in, as the installation process verifies your credentials and registers your device with Penn College.

Step 4.

Be patient and keep the device connected to the Internet. The installation will take several minutes.

Step 5.

Select the "Accept" button when the installation has completed.

Step 5.

Since Microsoft Office 365, is a cloud-based suite of applications, it is important to recognize options to sync your files across all devices. Choose Yes to accept this option to minimize syncing issues.

Use this account everywhere on your device.

Step 6.

When you see the "You're all set! Office is installed now." screen, as pictured below, you may select the Close button and begin using the newly installed applications.
