Overview:
The purpose of this article is to help you determine if you are required to take action in response to the upcoming multifactor authentication changes. Information about this requirement was shared with the campus community through AdminWire on September 14, 2026.
By December 1, 2026, all PCT community members are required to transition to Microsoft Authenticator as their primary multifactor authentication (MFA) method.
Check Your Current MFA Method:
Please sign into https://aka.ms/mysecurity, and compare what you see with the screen shots below.
No Action Required: You Are Already Using Microsoft Authenticator:
If your Security Info page shows Microsoft Authenticator as your default sign-in method, no additional action is required.
Action Required: You Are Using Text or Phone Calls:
If your Security Info page shows Phone - text or Phone - call as your default sign-in method, you must switch to Microsoft Authenticator before December 1, 2026.
