Issues
1. Classes are specific in this software. Any scripts engineered MUST be altered to read for the specific Class ID you desire.
2. Instructor stations MUST be DefProffed when full installation and setup is completed. Otherwise, the Class ID will not populate for anyone but the PCT profile.
3. The Teacher MSI and EXE work fine, but the Student MSI does not work for standalone installations. Run the Student EXE if you wish to run an installation manually.
4. Like Netop Vision, Faronics Insight requires all computers be in the same VLAN to be seen by the instructor. Please coordinate with Networking to achieve this if adjustments are necessary.
Faronics Insight Teacher Installation Guide - PCT Specific
1. Go to NAS location. Copy folder over to desktop of Instructor computer.

2. Dig into file for Windows version.

3. Run One of the installers for Teacher installation. MSI installer is direct and everything is done afterwards. EXE installer is done half/half. Both achieve the same thing, so it doesn't matter what one you choose. I will give directions on the EXE since it is slightly more detailed.
4. Running InsightInstallerTeacher.exe, you will get prompted to Run or Cancel. Run it (This can be ran from the NAS if you so desire).
5. Give it a moment to spin up and actually run. Once it does, you will be on the main Welcome splash page. Click next.
6. Check box that you agree to the T&C, click next.
7. Enter your class ID. This accepts Alphanumeric input. Go with building then room number, as such: ATHSE208, BWD161, etc. Press next once done.
8. On the Security page, click or check nothing, just press next. We do not use tokens.
9. On the Passwords page, enter our current PCT password in both fields and press next. Do not enter a teacher password, this is handled by group policy.
10. On the Network page, click nothing and press Install. We do not utilize the Insight Connector.
11. Once installation is done a reboot will be mandated. You need to do this to get any functionality out of the program.
12. Once the reboot is completed, you will need to go to the system tray and double click the program to open it. It will ask for licensing information, which is contained within the standard TDX page for the software. https://pct.teamdynamix.com/TDNext/Apps/1262/Assets/CIDet.aspx?ID=1492442
13. Once the software is licensed you should be on the main page of the program. Once student comptuers are installed with the same class ID, and are on the same Subnet, you will start seeing them populate here.
14. Once everything is settled, you will need to clear folder and browser cache, then run a DefProf so settings get pushed over to the instructor. Otherwise, the Class ID will not populate for all users, only for PCT.
Faronics Insight Student Installation Guide - PCT Specific
One of two options can be used for installing this software. You can run a script within Kace, or run it manually. Keep in mind that all scripts MUST be specific to the class ID, so do not run a script that is not for that building/room specifically.
1. Go to the NAS location and run the Student EXE.
DO NOT run the MSI, It does not work for standalone installations.
1.1 If you run a script and it has the correct classroom ID, once the install is done the computers should self reboot and be good to go. No licensing is needed on the student install.
2. Click Run when prompted. Click next once the main Welcome splash page shows up.
3. Agree to the T&C and click next.
4. Do not checkbox or enter anything on the Security page. We do not use this. Click next.
5. Set the admin password as the current PCT password. Click next when done.
6. Do not enter or check anything on the Network page. We do not use this. Click next.
7. On the Options page, enter the same Class ID as you are giving to that room. Checkbox "Allow Web Limiting", then checkbox "Track Web History". Press next when done.
8. On the Permissions page check and enter nothing. We want the defaults. Press next.
9. On the Wi-Fi Restriction page enter and check nothing. We do not use this page. Press Install. Reboot when completed
10. After reboot the student comptuers should start populating in the Instructor console if they are on the same VLAN. You are completed.
ALL INFORMATION BELOW IS GENERIC.
Read and understand it to your liking, but please follow the PCT specific instructions for our installations.
Faronics Insight Teacher Installation Guide
The Insight Teacher console is the tool that provides Teachers with the ability to monitor and control activity on Student computers, as well as providing an ability to engage with Students to assist in meeting their learning objectives.
The Insight Teacher can be installed on Windows 8, 10, 11, Windows Server from version 2019 and higher, and on systems running macOS from 10.13 and above.
Installation of the Insight Teacher application requires administrative credentials on the operating system that the software is being installed on.
- To begin installing, locate the InsightInstallerTeacher.exe application in the copy of Faronics Insight you were provided, or downloaded. Right click the file and select the option to Run As Administrator.
- A UAC prompt may be displayed. Click Yes to begin the installation process.
- When the Insight installer loads, click Next to begin the installation process.
- The next screen will display the license agreement for Faronics Insight. Review the terms of the license agreement and click I accept the terms in the License Agreement to accept the license agreement and then click Next.
- Next, the option to enter the default Class ID is shown. If your IT staff have provided a Class ID for you, enter this here. If you are responsible for assigning your own Class ID, please review the documentation here and select an appropriate Class ID. Click Next.
- The next screen shows the option to enable Private Mode. If you have been provided an Access Token enter it here. If you are responsible for determining if this feature is to be used, refer here to select an appropriate Token. Once appropriate settings have been made, click Next.
It is recommended that Private Mode for Insight be enabled to prevent unauthorized installations of the Teacher console from accessing Student computers.
- The next screen allows for the configuration of the Admin Password and the Teacher Password to secure the configuration options of the Teacher console, and access to the console itself respectively. Once set, click Next.
The Admin Password allows access to the Administrator Settings in the Teacher console.
- The next screen provides the ability to configure the Insight Connector for the Teacher console. If you have been provided with an IP Address, Hostname, or FQDN for your Insight Connector enter it here. Click Install Teacher Console.
- When complete, the Teacher console will ask to reboot the machine to complete the installation process. It is recommended to allow the reboot to occur before using the Teacher console.
Once rebooted, you will be able to access the Insight console through the system tray icon after logging on to the Teacher machine.
Faronics Insight Student Installation Guide
The Insight Student is the component that allows a Student's system to report to the Insight Teacher console. It provides all the required components and provides the Student with a method to engage with the Teacher if assistance is required in class.
Installation of the Insight Student application requires administrative credentials on the operating system that the software is being installed on.
- To begin installing, locate the InsightInstallerStudent.exe application in the copy of Faronics Insight you were provided or downloaded. Right-click the file and select the option to Run As Administrator.
- A UAC prompt may be displayed, click Yes to begin the installation process.
- When the Insight installer loads, click Next to begin the installation process.
- The next screen will display the license agreement for Faronics Insight. Review the terms of the license agreement and click I accept the terms in the License Agreement to accept the license agreement and then click Next.
- The next screen shows the option to enable Private Mode. If you have been provided an Access Token, enter it here. If you are responsible for determining if this feature is to be used, refer here to select an appropriate Access Token. Once appropriate settings have been made, click Next.

- The options to set Student permissions are shown. Set the permissions then click Next.
- Next, the option to enable Wi-Fi restrictions is shown. If desired, enable this feature and enter the list of authorized SSIDs. Click Install.
- Once the installation is complete, a confirmation will be displayed, click Yes to restart your computer.
Once rebooted, the Student computer will be visible in the Insight Teacher console.
