Email Encryption

Service Description
Email is inherently an insecure medium for communication.  In its basic form email is sent via clear text and can traverse across multiple networks to reach it's final destination.  Anywhere along those networks email messages could be intercepted by hackers and read by the intruders.

There are business and academic reasons for sending private information through email.  Pennsylvania College of Technology has a method of encrypting emails so they are safe to send.

Due to logistics and security concerns, ITS only provides the ability to encrypt emails for business processes that have a legitimate reason for doing so. If you have a legitimate reason to take advantage of the email encryption service, please provide an explanation of the business process and your supervisor's approval. Your request will be processed and if approved, you will receive instructions on how to use this service.
