Checking for Windows Updates

Overview

This article shows how to check for Windows Updates in preparation for the Windows 11 Upgrade.

 

Description

1. Open Windows Update from the Settings menu or by searching the Start menu.

2. You may see updates pending, awaiting download, or currently installing. Press the Download or Install button as applicable, and reboot if instructed. Click the Check for Updates button once it appears.

3. Check for updates, reboot as needed, until you see the Windows 11 Upgrade.

The Windows 11 update may take up to an hour to download. You may click install now to start the upgrade process which may take up to 30 minutes. Alternatively, leave your PC on when you leave for the day and the upgrade will install automatically overnight. If you have any issues with this process, please contact the IT Service Desk.
