Required Drivers
You will need one or more of the following drivers:
- PaperStream IP (TWAIN)
- Kofax Web Capture Service (For use with Etrieve)
- Softdocs Thinscan (For use with Doc e Scan) *
STEP 1: Verifying the PaperStream IP (TWAIN) drivers:
If you are having problems scanning, you will want to check to make sure you have the latest Paperstream Driver (as of June 6, 2023: version 3.20.0). The best way to check for the latest version is to use the following

directly to the manufacturer's web page. The link lets you specify your scanner model and OS for the correct driver. The driver's name will look like the following:
PaperStream IP (TWAIN) 3.20.0
How to check your installed version:
In Windows 10, you can check your installed version by going to the Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a program. The list here will indicate your installed programs and will show if you already have a version installed. If the version number is not the same as the current manufacturer version you may be unable to utilize the software properly. Download the new version before removing any existing version (just in case you run into any problems).
While you are here you can also check to see if you have your Kofax and Softdocs Thinscan drivers on the list as well. If you run into any problems downloading or uninstalling and re-installing the Paperstream drivers, please work with your local IT team first, and have them contact Softdocs support if they run into further problems.
STEP 2: Verifying the Kofax Web Capture Service
If your Kofax driver is out of date you can simply delete your installed version and then perform a logout/login to Etrieve. You will be prompted to download the latest version on login. Once installed you will have to log out/log in again to make use of it.
STEP 3: Verifying Softdocs Thinscan installation *
When working with Doc e Scan software, you will also want to make sure you have 'Softdocs Thinscan 1.1.41' installed on your client machine. If your IT team doesn't have this version you should have them contact Softdocs Support for the latest release.
