Dropbox Grades Not Showing in Gradebook

Overview

Grades for a dropbox may not show in the course gradebook if the correct options have not been chosen in the Dropbox settings or if the grades have not been published. 

Instructions for Dropbox Grade Settings

  1. Navigate to the Properties tab of a dropbox.
  2. Scroll down to the Evaluation and Feedback section. 
  3. Confirm that the "Score Out Of", "Grade Item",  and "Student View Preview" match your assignment or choose "New Grade Item" to create a new column in the gradebook as shown in the first picture below.
  4. Select the Save and Close button to save any changes. 
  5. To confirm that the Grade Item is associated with the correct dropbox, navigate to Manage Grades, as shown in the second picture below, and mouse over the question mark icon to display the name of the associated dropbox, as shown in the second picture below.

Instructions for Publishing Dropbox Grades

  1. Navigate to View Submissions of the Dropbox.
  2. On the Users Tab, look for the word "Published", "Evaluate" or "Draft Saved" next to each student's submission. Only those "published" will have a score in the gradebook, as shown in the picture below. 
  3. To confirm that the gradebook has been updated, navigate to "Enter Grades" and look for scores in the dropbox's grade column .
