Zoom Virtual Background

Overview

With Zoom's 'Virtual background' setting, users can set a unique background for their webcam feed. Select one of the background presets provided by Zoom or access one of the custom backgrounds, created by the College's Public Relations & Marketing department.

Instructions

Step 1. Enable Setting in the Cloud

Go to www.zoom.us (opens in a new window) and log in to your Zoom account. In the left navigation, select Settings, then scroll down to the In Meeting (Advanced) options to toggle 'Virtual background' to ON (pictured below).

The remaining settings will be configured using the Zoom Client application.

Step 2. Access Settings in Zoom Client

Launch and log in to the Zoom Client application on your computer. Click on the 'gear' in the upper-right corner of the window to access the Client settings (pictured below).

Step 3. Access Virtual Background Options in Zoom Client

On the 'Settings' screen, select Virtual Background (pictured below).

Step 4. Choose Virtual Background in Zoom Client

You can choose one of the provided virtual backgrounds, or click on the 'plus sign' to use your own image or video by selecting 'Add Image' (pictured below).

Additionally, professional background images have been developed by the College's Public Relations & Marketing department, made available on the myPCT Portal (opens in a new window).

Step 5. Uncheck 'Mirror My Video'

To ensure that your background is displayed correctly to your Zoom Meeting participants, verify that the box for 'Mirror my video' is unchecked (pictured below).

Participants only need a meeting ID or personal link name and password if required.
