ZoomTM is an easy-to-use, video-conferencing platform available to you for meeting with students, colleagues, vendors, distributors, counterparts at other institutions, etc. Only individuals scheduling meetings need an account. Participants only need a meeting ID or personal link name and password if required.
The free Zoom account is sufficient for most individuals and allows you to:
- Schedule one-time or recurring meetings with a 40-minute time limit for up to 100 participants
- Schedule infinite 1:1 meetings
- Host a meeting with audio, video, screen and file sharing
- Require a meeting password
- Use a Windows, Mac, Android, Apple or Linux device
- Use basic and advanced settings to customize meetings
- Record a meeting locally
- Personalize your profile with a picture of yourself or avatar
- View usage and meeting reports
ZoomTM Pro accounts include all of the basic features with elevated privileges regarding:
- Scheduling meetings with up to a 24-hour meeting duration
- Record a meeting in the cloud (recordings should be downloaded and deleted from the cloud to avoid maxing out the 1 GB cloud storage limit)
- View usage and meeting reports
- Use virtual backgrounds
