Access PCT Network File Storage via CoreFTP on Windows

Overview

Penn College network drives are provided specifically for downloading and submitting course assignments. All network drive usage is subject to the College's Information Technology Resources Acceptable Use Policy. These instructions explain how to access the College's network file storage using a Windows-based computer and CoreFTP Lite.

In this example, the free version of CoreFTP Lite is used.

Instructions

Step 1.

Download and install CoreFTP Lite. You can go to www.coreftp.com or use the link on the free downloads page on the Information Technology Services site on the myPCT portal.

Step 2.

Open CoreFTP Lite through the start menu or by double clicking the desktop icon. Note: the first time you open CoreFTP Lite, two windows will prompt you to change or set default programs. Click Yes on the Default FTP Client and Default Editor windows.

Step 3.

When CoreFTP Lite launches, a Site Manager window opens. Create your connection to PCT as shown in the picture below (use your Penn College network username and password). Be sure to choose SSH/SFTP from the Connection drop down box. Click Connect when complete.

Step 4

The first time a connection is made with PCT, a Key Check dialogue box will be displayed. To avoid a prompt on each connection, click Yes.

Step 5.

Once fully connected, a window similar to the one below should be displayed. Files can moved to and from your computer and your PCT network storage by dragging and dropping from one side to the other.
