Using Microsoft Teams to look up directory information

Tags Extension DIF

Overview

This article provides step-by-step instructions for viewing common directory information in Teams including someone's listed extension, office location and Deliver It Fast (DIF) interoffice mail number.

Description

  1. Launch Teams. This process is the same with the installed Teams client and the web client.
  2. In the Search box at the top, type in the name of the person you are looking up.
  3. As you are typing, Teams will provide results. Select the person from those results by clicking on their name.
  4. Once you've selected the person, Teams will open a chat window. Hover your mouse cursor over the circular image to the left of the person's name. This image is often a profile picture, but Teams will substitute a set of initials when no profile image is provided. Hovering will reveal the needed contact information - but the information will disappear if you move your mouse away from the profile image.
  5. If you click the profile image, or click on "Contact>" after first hovering, a screen will pop up with the contact information that will persist until you dismiss it (click the "x" in the upper right.
  6. Office Location, DIF # and Extension are all listed in the "Location" heading.
