Instructions for students with BYOD Laptops and connecting to an external monitor.
Connecting your Laptop to an External Monitor is pretty simple and straight forward. You will just need to correct cable, or adapter, to get you connected.
There are a handful of ways to connect:
1. If your Laptop comes with either a Display Port, or HDMI Port built in, a Display Port or HDMI cable can be used by connecting one end of the cable to the correct port on the back of the monitor to the corresponding port on your laptop.
2. If your laptop comes with USB Type-C ports, the use of USB Type-C to Display Port or HDMI can be used. This can be in the form of an Adapter, or a straight through cable with USB Type-C on one end and either Display Port or HDMI at the other end. For the Adapter, you will need USB Type-C (Male end) to either Display Port (Female end) or HDMI (Female end) See below for a visual of what these adapters will look like.
*NOTE* There may be additional configuration needed on your device, i.e the sound may need configured. This will be determined by the make and model of laptop you are using.
