Description

A Specialty PC is one that was purchased by a department other than ITS, generally for use with a specialty piece of equipment, and often includes specialty software installed and configured by the vendor.

These devices will not have a Penn College ITS sticker on them, but may have a blue Penn College asset tag.

Guidelines

  1. Do not tamper with the software on the PC or hardware it is connected to. You should assume that any changes to the configuration could result in an interruption of service and unplanned maintenance expenses.
  2. Record the PC in TDX Asset management including all the information you have. If the PC is not of a make or model that exists in TDX please contact Brad Miller to get them added. Record the requestor as the area administrator and the requesting acct/dept as the department who purchased the equipment. Leave the expected replacement date blank.
  3. If the PC is to be connected to the network, it should be onboarded to Defender ATP, added to the NAC, and added to KACE.

  4. For any hardware or software issues that exist with this equipment beyond basic needs such as a new keyboard or mouse, refer the requestor to the vendor that supplied the equipment.
