Disclaimer: Grammarly is a third-party application and is not officially supported or endorsed by Penn College. These instructions are intended to assist those users who choose to use the add-on. Account management and troubleshooting must be sought through Grammarly support.
Grammarly for Microsoft Word is an add-in that provides writing guidance. Catch typos, missing punctuation, or commonly confused words before they become distracting.
Compatibility:
- Word for the web
- Word on Mac (Microsoft 365)
- *This plug-in does not support Windows Word.
Grammarly Account Creation:
- Before you begin, please register for a free Grammarly account at https://www.grammarly.com/signup.
- Please do not re-use your Penn College account password; Grammarly and PCT are not affiliated.
Instructions - Word for the web:
- Word for the web lets you make basic edits and formatting changes to your document in a web browser. To access Microsoft Word for the web, please navigate to https://office.com and launch Word.
- Within Microsoft Word for the web, please create a new document or open an existing file.
- Within the Home section, Grammarly should automatically appear in your ribbon bar on the right-side.
- Click Grammarly and select Open Grammarly.
- On the right-side of your screen, you will be prompted to log in to Grammarly. Please provide your Grammarly account credentials.
- That's it! Grammarly for Microsoft Word is now ready for use. Please refer to https://grammarly.com for additional guidance.
Instructions - Word on Mac (Microsoft 365):
- Word on Mac (Microsoft 365) allows you to make advanced edits and formatting changes to your document in the Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365) desktop application.
- Please launch Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365) on your Mac device.
- Grammarly for Word is incompatible with Windows devices and non-Microsoft 365 editions of Microsoft Word.
- Grammarly should automatically appear in your ribbon bar. If it doesn't please navigate to Insert > Add-ins > My Add-ins > Admin Managed > click Grammarly.
- Locate Grammarly in your menu bar and click Grammarly > Open Grammarly.
- On the right-side of your screen, you will be prompted to log in to Grammarly. Please provide your Grammarly account credentials.
- That's it! Grammarly for Microsoft Word is now ready for use. Please refer to https://grammarly.com for additional guidance.
